Description
Use your power systems engineering knowledge, vendor management skills, and proposal-grade design background to provide technical applications support for Turnkey EPC proposals and contract projects which deploy storage solutions with Utilities and IPP customers who are incorporating distributed energy resources into the grid.
We require strong power system engineering skills and experience with large-scale ESS and solar PV projects that solve real-world electric utility problems. Desired capabilities are a strong plus. Job responsibilities and qualifications follow.
Requirements
Strong power system engineering skills
Experience working on utility-scale energy storage system (ESS) projects, and power systems engineering projects, and product design.
Experience working on large-scale commercial solar PV projects.
Experience working in the construction industry.
Experience with power system modeling, valuation of distributed energy resources, and cost-benefit analysis.
Ability to handle a diverse range of projects independently or with limited supervision.
Ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
Understanding of energy storage system functions and stacked applications with utility-driven perspective on how functions can create value
Demonstrated ability to manage engineering processes with external parties (vendors/suppliers) and manage relationships with cross-functional teams (sales, product management, etc.)
Experience with feasibility analysis in planning and execution of energy storage projects
Ability to understand dynamics of working with contractors and manufacturers to obtain accurate and realistic cost proposals to drive lower EPC costs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a growing team to deliver customer value
Willingness to travel periodically
Desired Skills
Utility engineering or supply chain background and experience
Knowledge of utility communication systems, including SCADA.
Knowledge of utility equipment specifications.
Experience writing technical reports
Responsibilities
Work with the Sales team and the technical project management team to identify customer technical specifications during the proposal phase of a bid cycle
Develop and manage ESS solution design tool by collaborating with internal and external teams; Propose competitive ESS solution based on each RFP requirements
Lead the engineering integration of components (batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, etc.) that result in Doosan’s turnkey ESS offering; Drive updates and continuous improvement into Doosan’s designs
Support bankability analysis of potential vendor partners with an emphasis on technical capability
Build Doosan’s ESS technology roadmap by performing technical due diligence of products and systems
Manage vendor/supplier relationships to deliver customer value
Evaluate product and systems risk during proposal and post-award phase; once a project is awarded support Project Managers in the transition to project delivery
Qualifications
7+ years demonstrated experience in electrical power system engineering
Experience working on utility-scale electrical power system projects or distributed energy resource projects is strongly preferred
BS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field with 7+ years’ direct engineering experience within an electric utility or MS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field with 4 + years’ direct engineering experience
Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in any state desired
