Description

Use your engineering and leadership skills to design and develop next-generation distributed energy resource solutions, including energy storage and solar, for the electric power system, and see your solutions deployed with real-world customers who are incorporating distributed energy resources into the grid. 


We require strong power system engineering skills and experience with projects that solve real-world electric utility problems. Desired capabilities are a strong plus.

Requirements

  • Strong power system engineering skills.

  • Experience working on utility-focused power systems engineering projects or product design.

  • Experience working on utility-scale energy storage system design.

  • Knowledge of electric utility substation and electrical distribution system design.

  • Knowledge of utility protection and control engineering design principles.

  • Ability to work with a small, fast-paced team to deliver customer value.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel periodically.

  • Understanding of the dynamics of introducing distributed energy resources into electric grid operations.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of utility Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) operations.

  • Knowledge of utility communication systems, including SCADA.

  • Knowledge of utility equipment specifications.

  • Experience writing technical reports.

  • Experience in distributed energy resource (solar or energy storage) operations or interconnection within an electric utility.

  • Experience with hazard analysis and risk assessment for energy storage or utility projects.

  • Experience generating intellectual property (IP) and creating IP documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design of megawatt-scale energy storage systems, including electrical system design, utility interconnection design, installation and testing plan design, and control system integration.

  • Manage engineering service sub-contractors and component vendors to contribute to the overall design of energy storage systems.

  • Create and coordinate the delivery and quality assurance of key engineering drawings and reports. Manage the PE certification process for electrical design drawings.

  • Provide engineering support for component solicitations including the evaluation of power conversion systems and battery systems from multiple vendors.

  • Author customer-facing documents to help them implement energy storage designs (e.g. installation plans).

  • Work with others in Doosan GridTech to identify design and performance improvements in Doosan GridTech’s delivered systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in electrical power system engineering. Experience on utility electrical power system projects or distributed energy resource projects is strongly preferred.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field

  • Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in any state desired.
