About the Role

We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for a Health Safety and Environment Advisor responsible for creating Doosan GridTech Australia’s EHS Plan, policies, procedures, and forms, including auditing of site and works, for critical ESS project works. Reporting to Manager, Health Safety Environment, this position is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.


Use your technical leadership skills and strong background in safety to enhance our Company’s position in delivering and maintaining safe, well-functioning systems for the digital distributed grid. Work closely with customers and our engineers to support a fleet of cutting-edge energy storage systems.


We require a motivated individual with significant experience creating and managing Health Safety and Environment Obligations and a passion to work with large-scale ESS or solar PV projects that solve real-world electric utility problems. Requirements

  • Relevant Diploma Level qualification in HSE or Risk Management / Hazard Management.

  • Experience designing and delivering a safety program in an environment with construction and electrical hazards.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of WHS and environmental legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, Australian and international Standards and Guidelines, and Workplace Harmonization.

  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing an HSE management system over multiple construction sites and disciplines.

  • Demonstrated experience in risk management.

  • Experience conducting operational safety audits, accident investigations, and processing/reviewing hazard reports.

  • Experience in Safety in Design (SID) and HAZOPS methodologies and leading workshops

  • Strong customer engagement, listening, and support skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders

  • Knowledge of computer applications and interfaces.

  • Willingness to travel as required to site and client workshops within Australia

Desired Skills

  • Electrical power system understanding.

  • Communication network experience.

  • Experience with utility-scale energy storage, utility-scale Solar PV, utility-focused product design, or delivering technology-driven products (hardware or software) for the electric grid.

  • Understanding of the dynamics of distributed energy resources within electric grid operations.

  • Experience with quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain safe work standards and build a culture of safety across the organization and throughout all phases of a project life cycle.

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of job-related injuries or accidents.

  • Ensure the organization is in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Create health and safety monitoring procedures and practices.

  • Develop the safety and sustaining engineering programs to ensure scalability as the organization and number of fielded systems continue to grow.

  • Create and oversee emergency procedures and ensure emergency teams are prepared for potential incidents.

  • Work with leaders from other functional areas to inspect the workplace to identify health and safety hazards and take actions to correct and prevent them.

  • Educate employees, customers, and subcontractors on safe and healthy working conditions to help prevent or mitigate workplace hazards by developing and delivering safety training in the office and onsite.

  • Perform safety audits and inspections to find potential hazards and take corrective actions where issues arise.

  • Investigate incidents and near misses to ensure all appropriate reports are prepared in a timely manner and maintained according to government regulations.

  • Travel to sites to support safety-related activities

  • Coordinate with U.S Safety team to further establish Doosan GridTech Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications in OH&S (Diploma level or above)

  • 5+ years’ experience in similar role

  • Experience in the construction/civil industry ideally within utilities

  • Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident will be considered for this opportunity.
