Description

We’re addressing the growing field of electric energy storage with a new business model and innovative technologies like autonomous control algorithms and multi-level optimization. 


We’re looking for an experienced software engineering manager to join our growing team and help us deliver compelling software solutions to our customers.


In this leadership role, you’ll help us design and build the technology platform, system architecture, and software solutions for the next generation of electric power systems, and see your solutions deployed with real-world customers. If you already understand electric power systems, that’s great. But even if you don’t, you could be our candidate – if you’re a quick study and value gaining new skills, we’ll guide your domain learning as you contribute to our growth. You will lead a small team of engineers and have plenty of time to contribute individually to our product development. 


We require strong technical capabilities and a demonstrated track record for applying core skills (such as software architecture and objected-oriented programming) and core concepts (such as memory management and multi-threading) to deliver commercially successful software. Good working knowledge of any or all of our desired capabilities would be a strong plus.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience delivering commercially successful software

  • 2+ years leadership experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Experience with software design and architecture associated with complex projects

  • Excellent object-oriented programming skills

  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, Java, or C++

  • Knowledge of memory management and multi-threading

  • Solid understanding of networking and distributed software systems

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills

  • Passion for maximizing the efficiency of the electric energy grid and the integration of renewable energy resources

Desired Skills

  • Experience working with embedded systems

  • Experience with software performance tuning

  • Knowledge of electric power systems (e.g. AC vs. DC power)

  • Experience with Microsoft server products including SQL Server and Team Foundation Server

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a team of smart, skilled software developers working on challenging problems

  • Manage the technical design and architecture for one or more products the Doosan GridTech software product line

  • Work directly with the Product Owner and the leadership team to plan sprints for the engineering team

  • Provide excellent project management direction and motivation to the team

  • Ensure that all aspects of the software development lifecycle are properly resourced including coding, quality assurance, performance, security, and servicing

  • Contribute directly to products under development as a software developer

  • Provide coaching, encouragement, and career guidance to direct reports through regular 1:1s

  • Attract and retain top talent to build a world-class software team

  • Interact directly with customers and partners to deliver on product goals

  • Work with the leadership team to deliver features and products which maximize the efficiency of electric energy assets and enable new scenarios for our customers

  • Participate in industry standardization efforts related to energy storage communication

  • Travel to customer and partner sites as necessary to facilitate product installation, deployment, and troubleshooting

Qualifications

  • 6+ years demonstrated track record delivering commercially successful software

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
